Stephen Vitiello is Professor and Chair of Kinetic Imaging at Virginia Commonwealth University's School of the Arts. An electronic musician and media artist, his sound installations have been exhibited globally at institutions including MASS MoCA, Whitney Biennial, and the Cartier Foundation.
His collaborative practice involves working with artists such as Nam June Paik, Pauline Oliveros, and Ryuichi Sakamoto. His research explores the intersection of auditory perception, spatial environments, and technological mediation.
Vitiello earned his BA in English from SUNY Purchase and has received prestigious recognitions including the Guggenheim Fellowship. His artistic investigations focus on transforming environmental recordings into immersive sensory experiences.
