Stephen Teale serves as Professor and Chair of the Department of Environmental Biology at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY-ESF), located in Illick Hall. His leadership spans academic administration and active research in forest entomology and chemical ecology.
Teale's research centers on chemical signaling in forest insects, particularly pheromone systems of invasive species like Sirex noctilio (woodwasp) and Anoplophora glabripennis (Asian longhorn beetle). His work integrates chemical ecology with forest conservation, focusing on invasive species management through pheromone-based detection and biological control.
