Stephen Schreiber, FAIA, is a Professor & Chair of the Department of Architecture at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, part of the College of Humanities & Fine Arts. He holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College and an M.Arch. from Harvard University. His professional roles include former Dean/Director at the University of South Florida School of Architecture and Director of the University of New Mexico architecture program.
Research interests span architectural education, urban planning, and public art integration. Notable publications include The Education of an Architect (2021) and South Hadley Design Assessment (2013). His artistic work includes Field Notes bas reliefs exhibited across New England (2011–2022).
Leadership roles include 2005–06 President of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) and upcoming 2023–24 President of the National Architecture Accrediting Board (NAAB). He served as a Town Councilor in Amherst (2018–2022). Awards include ACSA Distinguished Professor and FAIA recognition.
