Stephen Samuel

Dr. Stephen Samuel is an Assistant Professor of Exercise Science at Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, India, with a Visiting Assistant Professor role at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He holds a Ph.D. in Exercise Oncology from Manipal Academy of Higher Education and a Fulbright Post-Doctoral Fellowship. His research focuses on exercise interventions for cancer survivors, sleep-circadian rhythms, and rehabilitation in oncology. He has led studies on EXCAP©® exercise programs for breast cancer patients, pulmonary rehabilitation for fibrosis, and the role of yoga in inflammation reduction.

Professional recognition includes the Young Investigator of the Year Award (2015, MASCC) and leadership roles in the MASCC Fatigue Study Group (2016–2023). His work addresses nursing practices in cancer survivorship care, prehabilitation for surgical patients, and clinical guidelines for mucositis management. He has collaborated on international trials evaluating exercise adherence, respiratory therapy in stroke patients, and pedometer-based cardiac rehabilitation programs.
