Stephen Murphy

Dr. Stephen Murphy is Assistant Professor and Director of both the Disaster Management Program and the Center for Applied Environmental Public Health at Tulane University's School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. His work focuses on developing effective health security strategies and translating disaster policy into practice.

Dr. Murphy previously served as Chief of Planning and Preparedness for New Orleans' Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness post-Hurricane Katrina. He has managed responses to health threats including COVID-19, Ebola, and hurricane evacuations.
