Stephen Morse

Dr. Stephen Morse is an Associate Teaching Professor at Michigan Technological University (MTU), holding dual affiliations in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geospatial Engineering. He specializes in glass strength design, wind engineering, and finite element modeling of brittle materials. His academic background includes a PhD, MS, and BS in Civil Engineering from Texas Tech University.

Dr. Morse has contributed extensively to ASTM E1300 standards for window glass, authoring key provisions like generalized analytical procedures and updated NFL charts. He serves as Convener of ISO TC 160/SC 2 Work Group 1 and is a member of the US Technical Advisory Group. His research spans glass failure prediction models, weathered glass analysis, and innovative photovoltaic racking systems.

Teaching focuses on sustainability, structural dynamics, and civil engineering practice. Notable projects include large-scale data processing for glass strength, wind load modeling, and hydraulic fracture simulation in compactible rocks.
