Stephen Karaganis, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Biology at West Texas A&M University within the Paul Engler College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences. His academic journey began with a bachelor’s degree in Biology (minor in Chemistry) from Wabash College (1998) and culminated in a Ph.D. in Circadian Biology from Texas A&M University (2008).
His research focuses on molecular and physiological aspects of the circadian clock in the murine gastrointestinal tract, alongside collaborations in neuropathic pain research using rodent models. He also explores interdisciplinary intersections of science, philosophy, and social issues in healthcare and education.
Dr. Karaganis teaches human anatomy & physiology, medical terminology, advanced physiology, and neuroscience courses, while advising pre-physical therapy and pre-occupational therapy students. He actively participates in professional societies including the Society for Neuroscience and Society for Science Based Medicine.
