Stephen Kalin

Stephen Kalin is the James K. Batten Visiting Professor of Public Policy at Davidson College for the 2025-2026 academic year. He teaches courses on conflict reporting in the 21st century and contemporary politics of the Persian Gulf, leveraging his extensive experience as a foreign correspondent in the Middle East and Ukraine.

Background: Currently on leave from The Wall Street Journal, where he serves as a Middle East correspondent based in Dubai. Previously worked for Reuters News Agency across Lebanon, Egypt, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia, covering wars, diplomatic crises, and natural disasters.
