Stephen J. Piazza

Stephen J. Piazza is a Professor of Kinesiology at the College of Health and Human Development, The Pennsylvania State University. He is affiliated with the Biomechanics Laboratory, the Center for Movement Science and Technology (C-MOST), and holds courtesy appointments in the Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation.

• Education: Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (Northwestern University, 1998), M.S. in Mechanical Engineering (Northwestern University, 1994), S.B. in Engineering Sciences (Harvard University, 1990)

Dr. Piazza's research focuses on the biomechanics of joints and locomotion, particularly how normal, pathological, and surgically altered joint mechanics and muscle-tendon architecture influence muscle function and movement. His work bridges mechanical engineering principles with biological systems.
