Stephen Farnsworth is a Professor and Director of the Center for Leadership & Media Studies at the University of Mary Washington. He holds a Ph.D. from Georgetown University and specializes in American Government, Media and Politics, and Elections. His research explores presidential communication, political humor's societal impact, and international media dynamics. Notable works include Spinner in Chief (2009) and Presidential Communication and Character (2018).
Dr. Farnsworth has held prestigious Fulbright roles, including a Distinguished Scholar at the University of Warsaw (2024) and a Canada-U.S. Research Chair at McGill University (2006-2007). He has conducted media training in Eastern Europe and served leadership roles in the American Political Science Association and Pi Sigma Alpha.
