Stephen Connor

Stephen Connor is a Senior Lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University, affiliated with the College of Social Sciences and Arts and the Sheffield Institute of Law and Justice. He serves as Course Leader for the Professional Qualification in Probation (PQiP), training future probation officers. His academic career combines research on vulnerable populations in criminal justice systems with practical expertise from 13 years in the National Probation Service.

Connor holds a Master’s degree in Autism Spectrum and is pursuing a PhD focused on the lived experiences of autistic individuals in prison. His research aims to improve understanding and practice for vulnerable groups within carceral settings.

He has maintained ties to criminal justice practice through roles such as member of an Independent Monitoring Board for a North East prison and as a primary school governor. Notable professional achievements include earning Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
