Stephen Casper

Stephen Casper is a Professor of History and Associate Director of Honors Programs at Clarkson University, affiliated with the Arts, Culture and Technology Department. His work bridges the history of medicine, neuroscience, and science-society interactions.

Education:

• PhD in History of Medicine from University College London
• BSc in Neuroscience and Biochemistry from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis

Research Interests focus on the history of traumatic brain injuries and concussions, disturbances of consciousness in medical history, and the politics of neuroscience in modernity. He explores the patient’s role in medical history and the interplay between physiology and cultural contexts in the Anglo-American world.

Publication Trends include critical analyses of neurological specialties, historical perspectives on brain sciences, and interdisciplinary studies linking medicine with technological advancements and therapeutic practices.
