Stephen Casey is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Mathematics at American University and an Affiliate Faculty in the Department of Computer Science. He is a founding member of the Editorial Board for Sampling Theory in Signal and Image Processing (STSIP) and serves as an Associate Editor for Journal of Signal and Image Processing. He has organized major international conferences and holds patents in signal processing. His research focuses on complex analysis, harmonic analysis, and their applications in signal/image processing, including multichannel deconvolution and non-Euclidean sampling.
Casey has received numerous teaching awards, including AU's 1998 Outstanding Teaching Award and 2010 Teaching with Technology Award. He was honored as 2019 Distinguished Alumni in Sciences by Drew University. His work includes over 50 publications and 20 funded research grants. Notable achievements include a 2016 patent for signal adaptive processing and ongoing patent reviews for related innovations.
