Stephen Calogero is a Professor in the Department of Philosophy at St. Mary’s University, where he has been employed since 1990. He holds a Ph.D. from Loyola University of Chicago (1994), an M.A. from Boston College (1985), and a B.A. from Boston College (1982). His research focuses on Neo-Thomism, St. Thomas Aquinas, service-learning pedagogy, Latin American philosophy, and existential thinkers like Kierkegaard and Camus. Calogero has received numerous awards, including the Texas Campus Compact Faculty Fellow (2007–2008) and the St. Mary’s University Distinguished Service Award (1999). He has contributed to academic journals such as International Philosophical Quarterly and Philosophy & Theology, and has written extensively on ethics, metaphysics, and social theory.

Calogero’s research interests span Aquinas’s analysis of practical wisdom (prudentia), Mexican and Latin American thought, and critiques of positivism. He has been active in seminars sponsored by Glen Hughes, Ph.D., as part of the St. Mary’s Chair in Catholic Philosophy.
