Stephen Bramwell serves as the County Director and Regional Agriculture Specialist for Washington State University (WSU) Thurston County Extension. He holds a Master of Sciences in Crop and Soil Sciences from WSU and a Bachelor of Arts in International Community Development from the University of Washington’s Jackson School of International Studies.
His research and extension work focuses on conservation grazing strategies for rare species habitat protection in Pacific Northwest grasslands, soil health practices for agricultural systems, and market development for local agriculture. Recent projects include establishing the SW Washington Grazing Association, supporting the SW WA Food Hub, and assessing feasibility for community-scale vegetable production in minor growing regions.
Bramwell’s work emphasizes sustainable agriculture, farmer cooperatives, farm-to-school programs, and training new farmers. He is affiliated with WSU’s CAHNRS and collaborates with regional stakeholders to advance agricultural resilience and community food systems.
