Dr. Stephen Banham is a Senior Lecturer in Typography at RMIT University's School of Design. He is a practicing typographer, educator, and writer recognized internationally for his work exploring the social and cultural dimensions of letterforms. His studio, Letterbox, combines research with design projects across mediums like bronze, glass, and digital interfaces. Banham has authored over 18 books and contributed to major public art commissions, including a 360-meter Metro Tunnel project involving custom typefaces. He holds a PhD and Master of Design (Research), and has won awards such as the Creative Fellowship (2011) and Excellence in Teaching Award (2013).
