Stephen A. Woski

Stephen A. Woski is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Alabama. His research focuses on bioorganic chemistry, utilizing synthetic organic chemistry to address biological problems at the molecular level.

• NIH Postdoctoral Fellow, California Institute of Technology (1991-1994)

Research Interests:

• Synthesis of non-natural nucleosides and peptide nucleic acids (PNAs)
• Investigating metal complex interactions with DNA
• Designing molecular electronic devices through modular assembly
• Developing DNA-binding molecules for pharmaceutical applications
• Exploring oxidative DNA damage mechanisms

Collaborations: Collaborates with the Metzger group on molecular electronics projects.
