About
Stephanie Taylor is a Professor of Computer Science and Chair of the Computer Science Department at Colby College. Her research focuses on computational methods for mathematical models of biological systems, particularly circadian rhythms. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara (2008) and a B.A. in Mathematics and Computer Science from Gordon College (1998). Her work integrates sensitivity analysis and systems biology to study biological oscillators like circadian clocks in mammals and cancer cells.
- Teaches courses on data analysis and visualization (CS251).
Her research explores topics such as circadian effects of melatonin receptor-targeting molecules, jet lag dynamics, and mathematical models of cancer progression. Over 15 recent publications highlight her contributions to circadian rhythm studies and STEM education advocacy, including promoting professionalism in computer science classrooms. She has advised no listed students but actively contributes to curricular development in computational biology and technical writing.
