Stephanie Stevens is a Clinical Professor of Law and Director of the Summer Skills Enhancement Program at St. Mary's University. She holds a J.D. and B.A. from St. Mary’s University (1991 and 1987, respectively). Her roles include supervising the Criminal Justice Clinic since 1996 and directing a program to prepare prospective law students. She is board certified in Criminal Law (1998) and Juvenile Law.
Research interests focus on criminal procedure, legal education, and death penalty advocacy. Notable contributions include updates to the Texas Family Code Annotated.
Recipient of multiple awards: Texas Best Lawyers (2019), San Antonio Scene Top DUI/DWI Lawyer (2019), and the Kimberly E. Young Defender of the Year Award (2006, 2004). Her pro bono work includes representing death row inmates via the Texas Death Penalty Education and Resource Center.
Advising and grants: Oversees the Summer Skills Enhancement Program, which aids students in developing law school readiness. Previously mentored in the Criminal Justice Clinic’s program.
Labs/teams: Active in the Criminal Justice Clinic and collaborates with the Texas Death Penalty Education and Resource Center.
