Stephanie Mathson

Stephanie Mathson is an Associate Professor and Reference Librarian at Central Michigan University Libraries. She serves as the Non-Print Media Selector and Coordinator of the Library Research & Instruction Services Department. Her subject specialties include Counseling, Educational Leadership & Higher Education, Human Development & Family Studies, Recreation, Parks & Leisure Services, and Teacher & Special Education.

Her educational background includes an MLIS from Wayne State University, an MA in English Language and Literature from Central Michigan University, and dual BAs in Anthropology and English from Michigan State University.

Her research focuses on information literacy, library instruction, critical thinking, and inclusive access to LGBTQ+ materials. She explores how reader response theory can enhance patron engagement and advocates for privacy-conscious library practices. She leads the Library Research & Instruction Services Department and supports academic departments during faculty transitions. Her work ensures continuity in library instruction and research support across multiple disciplines.
