Stephanie Jütersonke, M.A., is a Research Associate in the Department of Environmental Politics at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) in Leipzig, Germany, a position she has held since May 2024. Her research interests focus on Interdisciplinary and Transdisciplinary Research, Sustainability, Sociological Theory, Social Identity and Social Recognition, and Social Inequality. Her work bridges sociological theory with environmental politics, particularly examining how social recognition dynamics influence climate change mitigation support and social cohesion.
Her publications demonstrate a strong focus on the sociological dimensions of environmental challenges, with recent work analyzing the relationship between social recognition and climate policy support, social identity threats to social cohesion, and empirical studies on opinion dynamics in social contexts. Her research employs both quantitative and qualitative methodologies within interdisciplinary environmental research frameworks.
As a Research Associate in the "Otterland" project at UFZ, she contributes to interdisciplinary environmental research that integrates sociological perspectives with ecological and political considerations. Her previous research experience includes work on BMBF-funded and Horizon 2020 projects examining social identity, cultural conflict, and social cohesion in European contexts.
