Stephanie J. Ryan

Stephanie J. Ryan is a Professor in the Department of Art, Design, and Art History at Fresno State's College of Arts and Humanities, where she has taught courses in Drawing, Figure Drawing, and Painting since her appointment. With over 25 years of teaching experience, she previously held academic roles at Arizona University, Mesa Community College, and Truman State University.

• Education: Master of Fine Arts from the University of Arizona (1997) and Bachelor of Fine Arts from Washington University (1990)

Research Interests focus on traditional and experimental approaches to Drawing, Figure Drawing, Painting (all media), Printmaking, and Collage. She specializes in alternative methods and materials, blending classical techniques with innovative practices.

Professional Highlights include frequent exhibitions as a professional studio artist. Her work explores themes of memory (e.g., Still Life (Memory of Home)), human anatomy, and material experimentation using processes like cyanotype and stamping.
