Stephanie Hart

Dr. Stephanie Hart is an Assistant Professor of Special Education at West Texas A&M University (WTAMU), affiliated with the Department of Education within the Terry B. Rogers College of Education and Social Sciences. She holds an Ed.D. from Texas Tech University and has been with WTAMU since 2022. Her research focuses on autism, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), observational assessment, and single-subject design, extending from pre-K to university settings.

Education:

• B.A. in English with minors in Psychology and African American Studies, University of Texas at Austin (1997)
• M.A. in Special Education, Texas Tech University (2007)
• Ed.D. in Special Education, Texas Tech University (2012)

Research & Grants: Dr. Hart leads a National Science Foundation (NSF)-funded grant (year 3) examining teaching assistants' effectiveness in undergraduate Physics courses. Her work emphasizes evidence-based practices in special education, including behavior management and low-incidence disabilities. She collaborates with the WTAMU Center for Learning Disabilities and serves on its planning committee and advisory board.

Teaching & Community: Teaches courses in Behavior Management, Collaboration, and Foundations of Special Education. Provides teacher coaching in behavior management across Panhandle school districts and supports community organizations like the J.T. & Margaret Talkington YWCA and the Burkhart Center for Autism Education and Research.

Labs/Teams: Involved with the WTAMU Center for Learning Disabilities and affiliated with the Burkhart Center for Autism Education and Research.
