Stephanie Glendinning

Stephanie Glendinning is the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering at Newcastle University, a role she has held since June 2021. She leads one of the UK’s largest faculties, comprising over 8,000 students and 1,200 staff across five schools, including the Department of Civil Engineering where she began her career in 1998.

Education:

• Studied Engineering at Leicester University.

Research Interests:
Stephanie specializes in infrastructure adaptation to extreme weather events and climate change. Her work focuses on integrating interdisciplinary approaches to address global sustainability challenges, particularly through the Urban Sciences agenda, which emphasizes collaboration between academia and industry.

Projects & Leadership:
She has spearheaded high-profile initiatives such as the Urban Sciences Building, a hub for cross-disciplinary research on sustainability. Her career highlights include revamping the Civil Engineering curriculum via industrial secondment and enhancing the dissertation module as Stage 3 Tutor.
