Stephanie Espie is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Music at the University of Pittsburgh's Dietrich School. Her research focuses on Caribbean music, diaspora studies, and the intersections of race, neoliberalism, and community networks. She holds a Ph.D. in Musicology from Florida State University, alongside degrees from the University of Florida and University of Delaware.
Her recent work examines Trinidad and Tobago's Junior Panorama steelband competition, analyzing government, corporate, and community influences on youth musical spaces. She has also studied steelpan pedagogy in U.S. schools and community ensembles, highlighting cultural preservation challenges.
