Stephanie Clark is an Associate Professor at the University of Oregon's College of Arts and Sciences, affiliated with the English and Medieval Studies departments. She serves as Director of the Medieval Studies Program and Director of Undergraduate Studies for English.
Her research focuses on Medieval Literary and Cultural Studies, Old English, and Gift Theory, examining how early English authors conceptualized prayer through formalized gift-exchange models and societal hierarchies. Current projects include "Valuable Things," exploring personhood in early medieval exchange practices and economic metaphors.
The co-edited volume Sources of Knowledge (2023) situates source studies within interdisciplinary frameworks like disability studies and feminist theory. Her 2018 monograph Compelling God analyzes theological writing through ritualized gift-giving in Anglo-Saxon England.
