Stephanie Beyer is a doctoral candidate in Sociology at the University of Bamberg, Germany, and a visiting scholar at the Center for Studies in Higher Education (CSHE) at the University of California, Berkeley. Her research examines the transformation of higher education systems, focusing on the impacts of budget cuts and increasing competition on academic career paths in the U.S. and Germany, as well as how departmental prestige influences perceptions of autonomy in academia.
