Stephan Schmidt

Dr. Stephan Schmidt serves as Managing Director of SWEET CoSi at the University of Basel's Faculty of Business and Economics within the Energy Economics department. Based in office 3.32 at Peter Merian-Weg 6 in Basel, Switzerland, he contributes to the university's research initiatives in energy and sustainability with direct contact at stephan.schmidt@unibas.ch.

Dr. Schmidt's research focuses on interdisciplinary energy research, energy consumption behavior, and sustainability frameworks. His work examines how individuals and societies interact with energy systems, exploring governance mechanisms for sustainable development. He investigates the intersection of policy, behavior, and technological change in energy transitions, with particular attention to integrated approaches that connect individual actions with societal transformations. His research bridges academic inquiry with practical policy applications in the Swiss context.

As Managing Director of SWEET CoSi, Dr. Schmidt leads three completed projects:
