Stella Ghervas is Professor and Eugen Weber Chair in Modern European History at UCLA. Her research explores intellectual and international history of modern Europe, with special focus on the history of peace, Russian maritime history, and the Black Sea region.

Her award-winning book 'Conquering Peace' analyzes how peace was constructed after major European conflicts. Professor Ghervas has received numerous honors including the Guizot Prize from the Académie Française and visiting appointments at Harvard, Columbia, and the Institute for Advanced Study.
Her work demonstrates how peacebuilding frameworks evolved through diplomatic innovations, with recent scholarship examining the historical foundations of European cooperation and conflict resolution mechanisms.
