Stein R. Moe

Stein R. Moe is Professor and Head of the Ecology and Natural Resource Management Section at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU). His research explores plant-animal interactions across boreal, tropical, and marine ecosystems.

Key research areas include savanna ecology, conservation biology, and human-wildlife interactions, with field experience across Africa and Asia. Current projects investigate marine protected area effectiveness in Norway's Oslo Fjord and pollinator conservation in power-line corridors.

Professor Moe examines ecosystem engineering by termites, trophic cascades triggered by ungulates, and context-dependent plant defense mechanisms. His work integrates community ecology theory with applied conservation, including novel approaches to managing human-wildlife conflicts.
