Stefano Harney

Stefano Harney is Professor of Strategic Management at the Lee Kong Chian School of Business, Singapore Management University, where he has worked since 2012. Previously, he held academic roles at Queen Mary University of London (2006-2012), University of Leicester (2003-2006), and City University of New York (1998-2003). His interdisciplinary research bridges social sciences, arts, humanities, and business disciplines.

Harney's work explores intersections between governance, cultural theory, and marginalized knowledge production. His monographs State Work and Nationalism and Identity examine bureaucratic labor and diasporic identity formation, while his collaborative work with Fred Moten (e.g., The Undercommons) develops radical pedagogical frameworks through Black study and fugitive planning.

Recent publications focus on curatorial discourse, anti-racist art practices, and critical approaches to institutional debt. His research trends emphasize interdisciplinary methodologies, connecting business strategy with critical theory, postcolonial resistance, and performative knowledge systems.

Harney has served in leadership roles including Associate Dean at Queen Mary University of London and Academic Director for SMU's MSc in Management. He co-directed The Bergen Assembly Triennial and contributed to UNDP's Global Compact University Curriculum Project in Vietnam.
