Stefano Ferraris

Stefano Ferraris serves as a Professor at the Interuniversity Department of Regional and Urban Studies and Planning, University of Turin, with additional affiliation at the Department of Life Sciences and Systems Biology. He teaches across multiple programs including Master's degrees in Sciences of Forest Systems and Environment (SIFAM) and Sciences and Technologies of Forest Systems and Territories (STEF).

His research focuses on quantifying water and energy fluxes between Earth's surface and atmosphere to enhance meteorological models and natural hazard prevention. Primary expertise spans agricultural hydraulics, watershed protection, forest engineering systems, and hydraulic infrastructure design for territorial defense. This work directly supports climate risk assessment in vulnerable regions like the Alps.

Professor Ferraris leads the LabFlux research group and participates in the PRIN 2022 project (202295PFKP) 'Snow droUghts predictioN in the Alps: a changing climate assessmEnT' (SUNSET). He serves on institutional bodies including the Integrated Councils for Agricultural Sciences and Forest/Environmental Sciences programs.

Teaching responsibilities include Forest Engineering II, Natural Engineering, Hydraulic and Support Works, and Territorial Supply Chain Design courses across agricultural and forestry Master's programs, emphasizing practical applications in watershed management and ecological engineering.
