Stefan Sauter is an Instructor in Architecture at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design (GSD), where he also earned his M. Arch II degree. His professional experience includes roles at Barkow Leibinger in Berlin, contributing to projects like the New Hanszen College dormitory for Rice University and competitions for MIT's Met renovation. He leads research and public programming for Schaufenster, an evolving think tank and exhibition space under Barkow Leibinger.
His curatorial work includes contributions to major exhibitions such as Countryside, the Future at the Guggenheim Museum and Archaeology of the Digital at the Canadian Centre for Architecture. He participated in the Strelka Institute's The Terraforming research program until its disruption by the Ukraine invasion. Currently, he develops Shapeshifter, a platform exploring evolving challenges for living beings, technologies, and environments.
