Stefan M. Lewellen

Stefan M. Lewellen is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Smeal College of Business, Pennsylvania State University. Previously, he held roles at London Business School (2013–2018) and Carnegie Mellon University (2017–2018). He earned a Ph.D. in Financial Economics from Yale University (2013), an MBA in Finance (Yale, 2007), and a BBA in Engineering Route to Business (UT Austin, 2001). His research focuses on corporate finance, political economy, financial intermediation, and industrial organization, with notable work on bank value dynamics, technology's role in housing markets, and policy impacts on credit access.

Education highlights include degrees from Yale and UT Austin, with a unique blend of engineering and finance. His awards include the Michael J. Brennan Best Paper Award (2023) and the SAC Capital Award (2013). He has advised doctoral student Emily Williams (now at Harvard).
