Stefan Hirschauer is Professor of Sociological Theory and Gender Studies at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. As spokesperson for the Collaborative Research Center 'Human Differentiation', he investigates practices of social categorization in areas like gender, medicine, and conflict.
His research combines practice theory with ethnography to analyze how differences are constructed and dissolved in social interactions.
