Dr. Stefan Bauer serves as Lecturer in Early Modern History at King's College London, holding additional appointments as Privatdozent at the University of Fribourg and Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Warwick. An intellectual and cultural historian, his research examines Renaissance and Reformation history with focus on humanism, religious polemic, censorship, and historical forgeries.
His award-winning monograph The Invention of Papal History (2020) explores counter-reformation historiography through the work of Onofrio Panvinio. Bauer has directed significant public engagement initiatives including exhibitions at York Minster Library and Middle Temple Library. He serves in leadership roles for several academic organizations:
