PD Dr. Stefan Albrecht is a Lecturer and Research Associate in the Department of Eastern European History at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. He completed his Dr. phil. at Mainz in 2001 and earned his Habilitation in East European History in 2018. Since 2002, he has been a Corresponding Member of the Historical Commission for the Bohemian Lands, serving as its Chairman since 2022.
His research spans multiple historical disciplines with primary focus areas including:
- Medieval history of Bohemia and Moravia
- Byzantine studies and Black Sea region history
- Historiography of East Central Europe
- International transport policy history
- 18th-century Caucasus history
