Staver Bezhani

Staver Bezhani is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania School of Arts & Sciences, Department of Biology. He has held prior roles as a Lecturer in Plant Physiology at Aleksander Xhuvani University, Albania, and as a Research Associate at Friedrich Schiller-Universität Jena, Germany, focusing on photosynthetic gene promoters and translation termination factors. His postdoctoral research at the University of Pennsylvania investigated transcriptional regulation of developmental transitions and chromatin remodeling in development.

Education includes undergraduate studies in Biology and Chemistry at the University of Tirana, Albania, and a graduate degree in plant biology from the University of Tirana, with experimental work at the Institute of Botany, University of Hannover, Germany. His research interests center on chromatin remodeling, plant developmental biology, and molecular mechanisms governing gene expression, particularly in Arabidopsis and barley plants.

His publications span studies on SWI/SNF chromatin remodeling ATPases, transcription factor interactions, and epigenetic regulation in plant development. Courses taught include BIOL 101 and BIOL 102 laboratory instruction since 2008.
