Stacy Porter

Dr. Stacy Porter is an Assistant Professor in Environmental Science at Wittenberg University, specializing in climate and atmospheric science. She holds a B.S. in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of North Carolina-Asheville, an M.S. from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, and a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences from The Ohio State University. Her research focuses on interpreting ice core paleorecords to understand historical climate dynamics, particularly in the Tropical Pacific and Arctic regions. She investigates how climatic changes impact mid-latitude regions like Ohio and emphasizes outreach through workshops and community engagement. Dr. Porter collaborates with the Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center and serves as a climate ambassador using tools like the En-ROADs simulator. Her work bridges scientific research with public education, addressing human-driven climate change effects.

She explores links between high-altitude glaciers and global climate systems, emphasizing the Third Pole (Himalayas-Tibetan Plateau) and the Tropical Andes.
