Stacy Platt

Stacy Platt is a Teaching Professor in the Department of History of Art & Visual Culture within the College of Letters, Arts & Sciences at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. She specializes in visual art with a focus on photography as a medium for exploring vulnerability, memory, loss, and the personal mundane experiences of life.

Her educational background includes an M.F.A. in Photography from Columbia College of Chicago, studies at the Institute of Design, Illinois Institute of Technology, and a B.A. in Humanities from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Platt's research interests center on photography as a vehicle for examining the multiple—and sometimes unreliable—versions of self and individual histories, as well as the contradictory threads of collective identity that both constrain and connect us. Her work explores how photography can represent and question complex aspects of human experience, focusing on vulnerability, memory, and the mundane moments of daily life.
