Stacy Bailey

Stacy Bailey serves as Associate Professor, Director of English Education, and Coordinator of the MA in English Education at the University of Northern Colorado within the Department of English, College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Appointed as Clinical Faculty in 2012, she maintains active roles in teacher preparation and graduate program leadership.

Her educational credentials include a PhD in Educational Psychology, MA in Teaching (English), and BA in English (Summa Cum Laude) from the University of Northern Colorado, plus a BA in Communication Studies from California State University, Long Beach.

Dr. Bailey's research centers on social and emotional learning (SEL) integration within English Language Arts instruction. She develops frameworks for fostering transformative student experiences through neuroscience-informed pedagogy, with emphasis on bridging cognitive science with literary analysis. Her work addresses practical classroom implementation across secondary and postsecondary contexts, particularly targeting engagement challenges in the "murky middle" of student motivation.

Analysis of her publications reveals consistent interdisciplinary connections between educational psychology, composition studies, and literature pedagogy. She pioneers SEL-ELA integration models while exploring how brain-based learning principles can elevate literary comprehension beyond surface-level analysis.
