Professor Stacy Anne Harwood is a leading urban planning scholar at the University of Utah, where she has served in the City & Metropolitan Planning Department since 2018 and currently holds the position of Associate Dean for Faculty in the College of Architecture & Planning. Previously, she spent 17 years at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as Associate Professor and Chair of the Urban & Regional Planning department.

Her research focuses on immigration policy, racial justice, urban community development, and equity in planning education. She has pioneered studies on racial microaggressions in educational settings, immigrant welcoming initiatives, and anti-racist planning practices.
Recent publications examine machine learning applications to racial microaggression analysis, BIPOC-led urban planning, and reparative planning to address historical injustices. Her work spans urban policy, environmental justice, and community engagement frameworks.
