Stacy A. C. Nelson

Stacy A. C. Nelson is a Professor and Associate Dean in the College of Natural Resources at North Carolina State University. He leads the Mapping a Dynamic Planet research group in the Department of Forestry and Environmental Resources, focusing on geospatial analysis of landscape and aquatic systems.

His research employs remote sensing and field data collection to assess land use change impacts on aquatic ecosystems, water quality, and fisheries ecology. Current projects include developing multi-scale modeling tools for forest water services valuation ($331k USDA grant) and workforce development programs for underrepresented groups in forestry ($580k USDA grant).

He teaches Geographic Information Science (NR 532) and advanced GIS applications (NR 533), emphasizing interdisciplinary problem-solving and stakeholder engagement in environmental resource management.
