Stacie Shields

Stacie Shields is a Lecturer in Elementary Education Literacy/Reading at the University of Vermont, affiliated with the College of Education and Social Services and the Department of Education. Her work focuses on literacy instruction, teacher preparation, and differentiated teaching practices to ensure equitable student engagement and achievement.

Education:

• M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Portland State University, Oregon
• B.A. in Elementary Education from Pacific University, Oregon

Prior to joining UVM, she spent 21 years in public education across Nevada, Utah, and Oregon, serving as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, literacy coach, and district teacher specialist. She has presented research on literacy, teacher training, and instructional coaching at conferences in Nevada and Utah, and contributed to the 2021 Utah Educator's Induction Guidebook.

Awards and Achievements:

• EXCEL Outstanding Educator Award, Granite School District (2016)
• Educator of the Year, Bonneville Kiwanis Club of Salt Lake City (2014)
