Stéphanie Fulton

Stéphanie Fulton is a Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Montreal, with a primary appointment in the Department of Nutrition. She leads research at the Montreal Diabetes Research Center and Behavioral Neuroscience Research Group, focusing on neural processes controlling reward and emotional states.

Her research examines how hormones and nutrients modulate the mesolimbic dopamine pathway, linking obesity and type 2 diabetes to mood disorders. She investigates metabolic-adaptations in midbrain and limbic circuits that reduce reward sensitivity and induce anxiety/depressive-like behaviors.

Trends in her publications highlight dopamine signaling in food reward, leptin's regulatory role, and neuroinflammation in obesity. Her work spans neuropharmacology, metabolic disorders, and behavioral neuroscience.

Scientific awards include the 2016 CRCHUM Excellence Prize and 2014 CMDO Young Researcher Award. She mentors PhD and Master’s students and secures funding from IRSC, CRSNG, and FRQS.
