Srividhya Swaminathan

Srividhya Swaminathan is an Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies and Professor of English at St. John’s University. She holds a Ph.D. in English from Penn State University, alongside an M.A. in English with a Women’s Studies minor, and a Master of Legal Studies in Conflict Resolution. Previously, she served as Chair and Professor of English at Long Island University.

Her research focuses on the rhetoric of social movements related to the British transatlantic slave trade during the long eighteenth century. She has authored three books and numerous articles, co-editing works like The Cinematic Eighteenth Century (2018) and Invoking Slavery (2013). Her publications explore intersections of literature, history, and cultural adaptation.

As Associate Dean, she prioritizes equity and inclusion in undergraduate education. Though no specific awards are listed, her academic leadership and publishing record reflect her scholarly impact.
