Dr. Srishti Guha is an Associate Lecturer at the School of Humanities, Creative Industries and Social Science, University of Newcastle, where she also holds roles as a Casual Academic and Research Assistant. She is affiliated with the Purai Global Indigenous History Centre. Her academic background includes a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Newcastle, a Master of Arts in History, Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in History, and a Certificate in Editing and Publishing from Jadavpur University in Kolkata, India.
Her research centers on visual historical sources with a transcolonial focus on Australia, India, and the British Empire, employing digital humanities methodologies to examine how digitization transforms archives—particularly concerning indigenous imagery. Key research areas include visual culture analysis, colonial histories, and the impact of digital technologies on historical interpretation.
Dr. Guha has received notable recognition including the ISCH Prize (2023) for cultural history contributions, the Addi Road Multicultural History Award (2022) for documenting transnational domestic workers' histories, and the Vice Chancellor's HDR Training Scholarship (2020).
She has contributed significantly to the ARC project 'Ayahs and Amahs: Transcolonial Servants in Australia and Britain 1780-1945,' investigating female care workers from India and China during colonialism. She also co-developed the online exhibition 'Transcolonial Journeys: Ayahs and Amahs' and serves as Submissions Editor for Limina journal.
