About
Dr. Sridhar Ravi is an Honorary Principal Research Fellow at the School of Engineering, RMIT University. His research focuses on bio-inspired robotics, insect flight mechanics, and flapping-wing aerodynamics. He investigates how biological systems inform engineering solutions, particularly in drones and micro-air vehicles. His work spans disciplines including aerospace engineering, biological sciences, and robotics.
Research interests include biomechanics of insect flight, turbulence effects on flight stability, and bio-inspired design principles. He has contributed to understanding gap perception in bumblebees, gecko climbing kinematics, and gust mitigation strategies in flapping wings. Teaching interests cover biomechanics, flight mechanics, and unmanned aerial vehicles.
Dr. Ravi collaborates internationally and supervises research projects like 'Bioinspired Perching and Crawling Drones'. His email is sridhar.ravi@rmit.edu.au, and he is based at RMIT's City Campus, Australia.
