Sowah Mensah

Dr. Sowah Mensah is Professor of Ethnomusicology at the University of Minnesota School of Music, with additional appointments at Macalester College and University of St. Thomas. As a Master Drummer from Ghana, he directs multiple African Music Ensembles and the Sankofa Folklore and Dance Ensemble.

His compositions include orchestral and choral works such as 'Nyamo,' 'Agoo,' and 'Bronya A Ba,' performed internationally. Mensah has collaborated with artists including Max Roach and performed at Carnegie Hall, Berlin Philharmonie, and the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival.
