About
Soroush Rafiee Rad is a Research Fellow affiliated with the Dutch Institute for Emergent Phenomena (DIEP) and the Institute for Logic, Language and Computation (ILLC) at the University of Amsterdam. Previously, he held postdoctoral positions at Bayreuth University and the University of Amsterdam (ILLC), along with a research fellowship at the Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy. He completed dual PhDs in Philosophy (Tilburg Center for Logic and Philosophy of Science) and Mathematics (University of Manchester), supervised by Stephan Hartmann and Jeff Paris, respectively. His academic visits include the London School of Economics, City University of New York, and the University of Kent.
His research integrates mathematical logic, probabilistic reasoning, and formal epistemology, with emphasis on:
- Social epistemology and collective attitude formation
- Probabilistic models for belief revision and learning
- Applications in quantum logic and decision theory
His 15 most recent publications (2017–2022) explore Bayesian inductive logic, probabilistic entailment, quantum protocols, and social deliberation, utilizing tools from category theory, model theory, and statistical learning.
He actively mentors graduate and undergraduate researchers, including current PhD/MSc students (Fei Xue, Nikki Weststeijn, Uddalok Sardar) and past supervisees across quantum logic, probabilistic coherence, and formal epistemology topics at ILLC and Bayreuth.
